In partnership with Trinity Health Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, the State of Michigan, and private foundations, Alpha House opened a second shelter in late 2025 on the campus of Trinity Health. When fully occupied, this shelter will house 30 families at any given time. At this location, each family is provided a private room with an adjoining bathroom. One wing is occupied, and we are working to open the second wing. Alpha House has dedicated this new shelter in honor of Wendell ‘Del’ Dunbar, respected community leader and longtime advocate for unhoused individuals and families. A private naming ceremony took place on February 20, 2026. Alpha House now has the capacity to serve over 150 families annually.

Spring has sprung! We hope that all our wonderful volunteers are doing well. The past two months have been dynamic and full of meaningful activities. From mobilizing volunteers to organizing holiday events, your dedication continues to make a real difference.
This spring, we launched various sign-up opportunities, inviting volunteers to fill the gaps between meals at Alpha House East (Del’s House) and Alpha House West. Your response to our call for help was outstanding, and we are deeply grateful for your enthusiasm and willingness to assist us in this endeavor. At Del’s House, we have 30 new rooms, one-third of which are already occupied!

On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the community came together to help us launch Alpha House East
Alpha House East, is a three-way partnership between Trinity Health Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, and the Interfaith Hospitality Network at Alpha House. The new shelter has 30 individual living units with private bathrooms and capacity for up to four beds per unit.
