Children's Services
The crisis of homelessness wreaks havoc on the health and well-being of homeless families, particularly children.
The goal of the Children's Services Program is to assure that children have the support and coping skills they need to handle life in shelter and during the transition back into permanent housing. In addition, IHN offers support, education and guidance to parents. Our Children's Services Coordinator gives individualized attention to each parent to discuss their children's particular needs and to develop the strategies and skills required to address those needs. The Coordinator helps to secure support services in the community (such as child care, school transportation and counseling services) and coordinates children's activities including summer camp, tutoring and special events. The Coordinator facilitates a weekly parents' support group and children's support/therapy group for IHN families.
